The Rural Development Agency has taken a significant stride forward in La Guajira with a massive investment of 14 billion pesos allocated to productive projects, marketing, business networking, and comprehensive rural development plans. Under the leadership of President Luis Alberto Higuera, this initiative is transforming the region’s socioeconomic reality.
The co-financing of two productive projects with an investment of over 2 billion pesos marks the beginning of this exciting chapter of progress. Additionally, 88 agreements have been signed during business networking events, generating an investment of 735 million pesos. The corn sector is also receiving special attention with an investment of 1.072 billion pesos dedicated to its development.
But the investment doesn’t stop there. With 700 million pesos allocated for the rehabilitation and modernization of the El Molino Irrigation District, a reliable water supply for agricultural production is ensured. Furthermore, the establishment of the Technical Committee for the Multipurpose Project in the Ranchería River demonstrates the Rural Development Agency’s commitment to undertaking interinstitutional efforts to finalize this important initiative.
The Agency has also demonstrated its commitment to peace by participating in “Canastas de Paz,” a commercial platform for farmers who have been victims of violence and signatories of peace. This platform generated sales exceeding 34 million pesos, providing economic opportunities for those who have suffered the consequences of the conflict.
The Rural Development Agency’s approach goes beyond assistance, promoting sustainable productive projects and fostering active community participation in building a prosperous future. Access to water, a fundamental need in La Guajira, is also a priority in this vision of comprehensive development.
With determination and commitment, the Rural Development Agency is paving the way for a bright future in La Guajira, where prosperity and equity are the foundations of a thriving society.
